Job Overview
The Panaga Club is a large, private members facility offering a wide range of sports and leisure activities in Seria and Kuala Belait (visit our website at www.panagaclub.com). Stingrays Swim Club is a very active and self-sustaining section within Panaga Club. The Swim section (approx. 400 members) welcomes swimmers of all ages and abilities. We follow the vision of becoming an inclusive swimming club shaping champions across all levels of skills and abilities with the ambitious long-term strategic goal to become the best swimming club in the country.
The current position of the Head Swim Coach is available following the needs of the section and its vision for growth and development.
We are looking for an energetic full-time Head Swim Coach with club experience for a fixed term of 2 (+2) years to lead our team of professional swim coaches and instructors, support and develop them as your successor upon completion of your assignment. As the Head Swim Coach, you will work with the team to provide lessons and training sessions across all levels and abilities, integrate and implement a unified swimming curriculum, arrange in-house competitions and attend domestic and international competitions with the squad. The Head Swim Coach will be responsible for the section’s profitability.
This position offers the opportunity to live and work within a small yet very diverse international community in a beautiful tropical location. The role will enable the successful candidate to develop and demonstrate leadership and coaching skills both on and beyond the poolside.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Training and Teaching
- Together with the team review existing swimming program and syllabus, suggest changes if required;
- Implementation of swim programmes to meet the needs of non-competitive and competitive swimmers at all levels following the vision and strategic goal.
- Incorporate basic life-saving/water safety skills into swim programmes;
- Assessment of swimmers' abilities;
- Teach and train students of all ages and levels from young to old from beginners to squad;
- Provide basic instruction and training for Panaga Club Facility Team in the safe running and daily operations of the pool, including the safety of Panaga Club Members

Team Development
- Lead the team of professional coaches and instructors;
- Develop the teams coaching and teaching skills;
- Foster a successor for the Head Coach Position;
- Plan professional development for the team;
- Hold weekly and monthly reviews with the team to guide them to improvement;
- Foster a growing and encouraging team spirit;
- Listen and understand team's ideas and vision and take these into account in your leadership;

Events
- With the team and committee organize in-house competitive events (currently 3 times/year)
- Organize and conduct swim holiday camps;
- Organize and conduct swim clinics, workshops and other training events;
- Plan for, attend and coach at other swim meets domestically and internationally;

- Follow the strategy and vision for the section development, bring new suggestions and add on to the existing ideas;
- Liaise and assist in all matters related to maintenance and upkeep of the Club Pool;
- Identify requirements for pool equipment and swim accessories;
- Attend meetings as requested;
- Execution of other job-related tasks assigned by the company management;
- Ensure the section remains financially sustainable.
Candidate description:
- Fluent in English;
- Exceptional leadership skills, team player, passionate about team development, guiding and supporting your team;
- Enthusiastic about working with swimmers of all abilities and developing everyone to reach their full potential;
- Person of integrity, excellent communication skills, ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty, holds a can-do attitude;
- Willing to work irregular hours and weekends.
Education and experience requirements:
- Coach Certification ASCA Level 2, or equivalent, is preferred. Must be current, including all safety requirements and background checks (e.g. CPR, First Aid & Coaches Safety Training);
- College degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- At least 5 years of coaching experience in a leadership role, with experience in learn-to-swim programs and squad coaching.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Successful applicants will be offered a contract term employment after a three-month probationary period. The Panaga Club offers an attractive remuneration package and fair terms and conditions of employment. The initial salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
