Panaga Lawn Bowls Club led by Neil Lynch and Tony Haggett retained the Lawn Bowls Pairs’ Open Friendship Trophy for the third consecutive time at the Panaga Club in the Belait district recently.
Fifteen teams, including the Royal Brunei Airlines Lawn Bowls Club, participated in the event organised by Wisdom Bowls Club (WBC) in cooperation with Panaga Lawn Bowls Club.
Panaga Lawn Bowls Club boasted several expatriates from England, Australia, Scotland, Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands and South Africa.
The pairing of Neil Lynch and Tony Haggett defeated the Wisdom Bowls Club pair of Bahren bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Muhd Hazmi bin Haji Idris 12-8 in the final.
Third place went to the Wisdom Bowls Club duo of Arif bin Haji Amli and Halifi bin Haji Amli.
Meanwhile, in the plate category, the Wisdom Bowls Club pairing of Awangku Wazien bin Pengiran Jamaluddin and Muhd Nuh Jaafar won after a 12-3 victory over the duo of Muhd Rudy Aminorzaman and Shahdainie bin Haji Emran from the Royal Brunei Airlines Lawn Bowls Club.
The Wisdom Bowls Club duo of Kamarul Zaman bin Haji Bakar and Haji Abdul Ghafar bin Pengiran Orang Kaya Laksamana Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Taha claimed third place.
Pengiran Jamilah Pengiran Zaini from the Belait Youth Centre presented the prizes. Wisdom Bowls Club President Haji Johari Achee expressed appreciation to the Panaga Lawn Bowls Club for allowing them to use the facilities to organise the tournament.
