Exciting Announcements From The Lawn Bowls Section

Panaga Lawn Bowls Club is the only grass lawn bowls green on Borneo and welcomes people of all ability, gender, experience and age to take part in what is the national sport of Brunei Darussalam, the only sport represented by our country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

- Congratulations to Neil Lynch and Tony Haggett for winning this year's PLBC-WBC-RB Friendship Pairs trophy! This means Panaga has held this national title three years in a row, won by Damian Brady and Tobias Bin Tahal in 2018 and 2019.

- Neil Lynch was also victorious against Damian Brady in February's national singles competition final. What a great couple of months for Mr Neil!

- Speaking of competitions, we have been invited by Wisdom Bowls Club and Royal Brunei Airlines to join a national Super League 2021, endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Neil and Damian have been appointed by the controlling body as League Secretariats and Tobias as a Committee Member. Games will be broadcast on RTB and the MyBowlsTV Youtube channel.

- And speaking of TV, we are delighted that Radio Television Brunei (RTB) came to the green on Friday 2nd April to film an interview with Damian Brady (section president) and Neil Lynch (section secretary) to celebrate the green, its history, past and future tournaments and talk about the national team's passion for competing here on Borneo's only grass lawn bowls green. The TV programme will go to air on RTB later this month and a copy of it will be uploaded on the website.

We are excited by the increase in PLBC membership of late and particularly the rise in female members, many of whom have a social roll on a Thursday morning. Please contact Catherine: paulandcath@hotmail.com, if you'd like to join in the fun.

New to bowls? Tobias and others are offering an open morning soon, date TBA. Also, there is recent talk of a Tuesday night addition to the bowls calendar. Please contact tobiasbintahal68@gmail.com if you would like further information.
