The Stingrays Swim Club is a well-established and active section within Panaga Club, welcoming swimmers of all ages and abilities. Our vision is to be an inclusive swim club shaping champions across all levels, with the long-term goal of becoming one of the leading swimming clubs in the country. 

The Swim Coach position is now available to support the section’s ongoing growth and development.

We are seeking an energetic, certified, full-time Swim Coach to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the coaching team to implement training programs, develop athletes at all levels, foster a strong sense of teamwork and support the Club's mission of excellence. This position offers the opportunity to live and work within a small, diverse international community in a beautiful tropical setting. The successful candidate will have the chance to further develop coaching skills, contribute to the success of the Swim Section and be part of a highly motivated and professional team. 

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Training and Teaching

  • Provide lessons and training sessions for swimmers of all ages, levels and abilities.
  • Follow the existing swimming program and syllabus.
  • Assist in designing training sessions tailored to swimmers' ages and skill levels. 
  • Teach basic life-saving and water safety skills as part of the swimming curriculum.
  • Assess swimmers' abilities and progress.
  • Collaborate with Club Facility Support Staff to maintain safe pool operations and uphold member safety standards. 
  • Develop athletes and promote a strong sense of teamwork. 
  • Provide technical instruction and corrections for all four competitive strokes, starts and turns. 
  • Support swimmers in setting and achieving personal and team goals.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and team-oriented culture. 
  • Ensure a safe training environment by enforcing pool safety rules and maintaining CPR/First Aid Certification. 

2. Events

  • Collaborate with the team and Swim Section Committee to organize in-house competitive events (currently three times per year).
  • Plan, organize and conduct swim holiday camps. 
  • Organize and run swim clinics, workshops and other training events. 
  • Support the Swim Section Committee with swim meets, both domestic and international. 

3. Others

  • Follow strategy and vision for the Section's development, bringing new suggestions and building on existing ideas. 
  • Assist in all matters related to maintenance and upkeep of the Panaga Pool. 
  • Perform administrative duties, including meet preparation, maintaining attendance records and tracking swimmer progress. 
  • Identify requirements for pool equipment and swim accessories. 
  • Attend meetings as requested, including weekly and monthly reviews with the Swim Section Committee. 
  • Actively participate in team-building activities, recruitment of new students and retention efforts. 
  • Execute other job-related tasks as assigned by Club Management. 
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents and staff to ensure alignment with the Club's vision. 


Reports To

Club Management, with accountability to the Swim Section Committee.


Candidate Profile

  • Fluent in English
  • Enthusiastic about working with swimmers of all abilities and committed to helping each swimmer reach their potential. 
  • Person of integrity with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proactive, adaptable and upholds high standards of sportsmanship. 
  • Willing to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passionate about swimming and mentoring young athletes.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Certified by Aust Swim/ASCTA Swimming or an equivalent governing body.
  • CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience is highly desirable. 
  • Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques, training principles and athlete development.
