Sunrise & Birding Photography

🌅🐦 Early Morning Bird & Wildlife Adventure 🐒🌳

Calling all bird and wildlife photographers! Ready for an early morning adventure to get some shots to submit for the All about Brunei photo competition?  Join us on April 28th as we head out to the old Kuala Belait Road—one of the best spots near Panaga to catch a glimpse of some truly amazing creatures.

This area is known for hornbills—wrinkled, black, and even the impressive rhinoceros hornbill! While sightings of sun bears, mongooses, martens, or even a clouded leopard are extremely rare, you’re much more likely to see silver leaf monkeys, macaques, owls, woodpeckers, kingfishers, and colorful parakeets along the way.

🌄 Sunrise is the magic hour here—mist still clings to the canopy, and the forest comes alive with its early morning chorus.

Spaces are limited (up to 8 adults / 2 cars), so grab your spot soon! If more people are interested we can split in smaller groups checking out different sections of the road.

👉 What to bring: binoculars & camera, insect repellent & sunscreen, breakfast & drink and scissors (to help cut old poaching lines)

🗓 Date: April 28th, 2026
🕖 Time: 5:30 AM – 10:00 AM
📍 Meeting point: Kuala Belai Road

Come along for a morning of fresh air (hopefully no haze of forest fires), forest sounds, and maybe even a few once-in-a-lifetime sightings. 🌿
