PGC Captain's Notice to Members
Good day everyone. I hope that you are managing to get out on to the course. The arrangements we have in place to manage the rough appear to be working. I hope as a result that fewer balls are being lost. I hope also that you are noticing an improvement in the appearance and condition of the greens. The use of the walk behind mowers and disciplined care is starting to really change tings up. Recognition to Oliver, our Course Superintendent and the Maintenance team.
Probably timely to also remind our members of some of the rules and expectations:
Dress Code, Etiquette and Club Rules
- Dress code for PGC is posted outside the shop/office. We kindly ask that this is respected.
- How many players can play in a single flight/group? – Up to a maximum of 4. Note: In competitions if a flight of more than 4 plays all players will be disqualified.
- Bunkers – After you have played your ball from the sand rake the bunker.
- Golf Clubs - Players are reminded that they should play with their own set of clubs. Sharing clubs whilst playing might be convenient but it slows play. There are available men’s, women’s and Junior’s clubs to hire. Please enquire at the Shop.
- Insurance - PGC members to have insurance. Insurance can be arranged through the Team in The Golf Shop/Office.
- Course access - There have been a few reports of people fishing in the ponds. This is not permitted. Aside from the danger of wayward golf balls the presence of crocodiles cannot be controlled. A crocodile can hold its breath for up to 2 hours and they can move faster than we can.
- Buggies – Please look after these buggies like they are yours. This means that you do not drive them fast over rough ground, that you take special care when crossing bridges, avoid wet/soggy areas and that you return them to the office area when you have finished your round. The buggies are checked prior to being hired and checked upon return I strongly encourage all users to verify the condition of the buggy prior to use and raise any concerns with the Golf Shop Team prior to taking it out on the course. Keeping a buggy beyond the time taken to complete your 9/18 holes deprives someone else from using it, keeps the maintenance team waiting and you will be charged extra. The costs of replacing parts on the buggies will soon be posted on the buggies. Please also be reminded that only people of 16 years of age and older are permitted to drive the golf buggies. Please follow all notices related to buggy routing. There is a survey ongoing to prioritize buggy tracks and routing.
- Driving Range - We have gone through a period where we were running out of range balls. I apologize for this; however new stock has since been received. Where have the other thousands of balls gone? Some have found a watery grave, and some have become embedded during the wet conditions. Please do not take driving range balls. Some have been found out on the course. If you are found using driving range balls out on the course, then you will be suspended.
- Litter – Simple really. Do not litter our course. This includes Cans, bottles, cigarette butts, empty golf ball sleeves etc. Bring it in – take it out. Smoking on the course is not permitted by law.
- Which Tee Boxes/markers do I use? Panaga Golf Club uses 3 different tee box colours to indicate varying levels of difficulty. We've found that these colours help players choose the most suitable starting point for their skill level. Our Colours are:
- Black: For Low Handicaps and Competitions/most challenging
- Blue: For Mid to Low Handicaps
- Red: For beginners/high Handicaps
We encourage golfers to choose tee boxes that match their abilities. Playing from appropriate tees enhances enjoyment and helps maintain a good pace of play for everyone on the course.
- Disciplinary measures – Despite the rules and the general expectation regards conduct there are occasions when players do not comply. It is therefore necessary that we introduce formal disciplinary measures. When there is an infringement first strike will be a verbal warning, second strike will be a written warning, and third strike will be suspension. Note that suspension will also include suspension of reciprocal rights.
