Job Overview
The Panaga Club is a large, private members facility offering a wide range of sports and leisure activities in Seria and Kuala Belait (visit our website at www.panagaclub.com). Stingrays Swim Club is a very active and profitable section in Panaga Club. The Swim section (approx 400 members) welcomes swimmers of all ages and abilities. We follow the vision to become an inclusive swim club shaping champions across all levels of skills and abilities with the ambitious long-term strategic goal to become the best swimming club in the country. 

Current position of the Swim Instructor is available following the needs of the section and its vision for growth and development.

We are looking for an energetic certified full-time Swim Instructor to join our team of professional swim coaches and instructors. As the Swim Instructor you will work closely with the Head Coach and the team to implement training programs, develop athletes, promote a strong sense of teamwork, and support the club’s mission of excellence.

This position offers the opportunity to live and work within a small yet very diverse international community in a beautiful tropical location. The role will enable the successful candidate to develop coaching skills, be part of a success story and a member of highly enthusiastic and professional team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

1.Training and teaching

a.    Provide lessons and training sessions across all ages, levels and abilities;

b.    Follow existing swimming program and syllabus;

c.     Assist in designing training sessions tailored to swimmers’ ages and skill levels

d.    Teach basic life-saving/water safety skills as part of swimming curriculum;

e.     Assessment of swimmers’ abilities;

f.       Provide basic instruction and training for Panaga Club Pool Attendant Staff in the safe running and daily operations of the pool, including the safety of Panaga Members;

g.     Develop athletes and promote a strong sense of teamwork;

h.     Provide technical instruction and corrections for all four competitive strokes, starts, and turns;

i.    Support swimmers in setting and achieving personal and team goals;

j.       Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture;

k.      Ensure a safe training environment by enforcing pool safety rules and being CPR/First Aid certified.

2.     Events:

a.    With the team and committee organize in-house competitive events (currently 3 times/year);

b.    Organize and conduct swim holiday camps;

c.     Organize and conduct swim clinics, workshops and other training events;

d.    Support the Head Coach with other swim meets domestically and internationally;

3.     Other:

a.    Follow the strategy and vision for the section development, bring new suggestions and add on to the existing ideas;

b.    Assist in all matters related to maintenance and upkeep of the Panaga Pool;

c.     Perform administrative duties, including meet preparation, maintaining attendance records, and tracking swimmer progress;

d.    Identify requirements for pool equipment and swim accessories;

e.     Attend meetings as requested, including weekly and monthly reviews with the Head Coach;

f.       Actively participate in team-building activities, recruitment of new students, and retention efforts;

g.     Execution of other job-related tasks assigned by the company management;

h.     Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and staff to ensure alignment with the club’s vision.

The Head Coach, accountable to Swim Section committee;

Candidate description

  • Fluent in English;
  • Enthusiastic about working with swimmers of all abilities and developing everyone to reach their full potential;
  • Person of integrity, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proactive, holds a can-do attitude, upholds high standards of sportsmanship;
  • Willing to work irregular hours and weekends;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A passion for swimming and mentoring young athletes

 

Education and experience requirements:

  • Certified by Aust Swim/ASCTA Swimming or an equivalent governing body;
  • CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain);
  • Prior coaching or competitive swimming experience is highly preferred;
  • Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques and training principles.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Successful applicants will be offered a contract term employment after a three-month probationary period.  The Panaga Club offers an attractive remuneration package and fair terms and conditions of employment.  The initial salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
